Illumination: Yes
I prefer to do later period stuff. Trompe l'oeil is my favorite, but I've done Italian white vine, black book of hours, book of the hunt, etc. I tend to avoid early period stuff like Celtic Knotwork (love and respect the art, but it isn't my favorite thing to draw and paint). Currently, I am working to do more scrolls on vellum for vellum substitute, with period pigments and gold, done to the scale of the original piece. I also will frequently do scrolls with other artisans so more people can take part in the final piece (i.e., other individuals will do the gilding, calligraphy, wording, etc, and I'll just do the drawing and painting)
Calligraphy: Yes
- Any calligraphy I have done was for scrolls were a crude style was needed or for Asian Kanji. I don't do Medieval European calligraphy.
- Yes, but I'm no where near as good as some others.
