Award: Sycamore for Alden Kerr

Author: The Honorable Lady Gwendolyn the Graceful

A fencer must possess many skills: endurance, patience, calibration, and of course, pretty clothes. Our servant, Aldan Kerr, has all these things in abundance. Her--or his--skill with the rapier is well-known to Us, having earned him--or her--Arms by Grant and induction into the Order of the White Scarf. Equally well-known is Aldan's point control--the needle point, that is. His/Her skill with needle and thread improve the pageantry of the fencing field, and beautify others who benefit from her...his...teaching freely shared. For this and for research related to such costuming do We, Henri D'Artois, le Roi D'AEthelmearc, on this 21st day of February at the Feast of Seven Deadly Sins in Delftwood, see fit to name Aldan Kerr a Companion of Our Order of the Sycamore. We further decree that Aldan may wear the badge of the Order (to wit: three sycamore leaves conjoined in pall per pale gules and Or) in addition to his/her Arms: Sable, a rapier between two comets inverted in pile and a mountain argent. In witness whereof, We do set Our hand and seal.

Award: Keystone for Aibell ingen Dairmata

Author: Sir Ogami Akira

Block by block the arch is made, each stone lovingly placed by strong and eager hands.  On the base stones are carved a lady of grace welcoming strangers to her home.  On the second tier of stones are carved the needle and thread of a seamstress, and the happy and grateful subjects who are newly clothed.  The third tier is cut with the oven, ladle and herbs of a cook.  Upon the fourth tier is inscribed the shoes and joined hands of the dance.  On the curved fifth level is shown the lectern and benches of a teacher and her students.  And at the pinnacle of the arch is the Keystone, and into the living rock with chisel sharp the mason has deeply carved the name Aibell ingen Dairmata.

We, Malcolm and Tessa, King and Queen of Aethelmearc, do invest her this seventh day of May, A.S. 40 at Will’s Revenge in the Shire of Abhainn Chiach Ghlais, with the mantle and the dignity of Our Order of the Keystone

Award: AoA for Kyoshiro Kumagae

Author: Sir Ogami Akira.

Translated into Japanese by Lord Date.

Additional note: The words are written in the Japanese 'tanko' poetry format- 5,7,5,7,7—A five syllable first line, seven syllable second line, then five, then seven and seven.  (Haiku is 5,7,5.)   "SaTsuki" is the old Japanese word for "May"-  the modern one is different.

Kumagae-san works

Hard for the good of Our shire,

Sun and moon shining

On his brow soaked with effort,

Selflessly bent to his tasks. Katana study

His spirit hones, weaving chain

Mail sharpens his eye

Fearsome in battle he strives

For perfection, yet gentleIs he when peace rules the skies.

Arms do we give himAnd thus is he enobled.

Proud is Our kingdomTo honor this brave warrior,

We hail this true Samurai.

Thus Arms are Awarded to Kyoshiro Kumagae on this seventh day of SaTsuki, A.S. 40 at Will’s Revenge in the Shire of Abhainn Chiach Ghlais by Malcolm and Tessa, King and Queen of Aethelmearc.
